Villa Pontebello

	Welcome to Villa Pontebello! You are most welcome to fair Tuscany and Villa Pontebello, the paradise for those who would enjoy their holiday in the idyllic Italian countryside! In the valley of Val di Chiana, at the very heart of Tuscany, near the outskirts of the village of Pozzo lies Villa Pontebello, “The Villa of the Fair Bridge”.
	Villa Pontebello is located on a beautiful site among the Tuscany Hills, just outside the small village of Pozzo della Chiana. In the midst of a classic Tuscan landscape of olive groves and vineyards, the villa is surrounded by an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Even so, the historically notable towns and villages of Tuscany are close by, and the Rome-Florence motorway (A1) is only 5 miles away. The villa consists of the main building (the Villa) and a smaller cottage called the Casina. There is a swimming pool in the yard. Come to enjoy your holiday in Tuscany, the home of many things fair, the home of marvellous food and tasty wines! Come to unleash the artist within you; draw, paint or write in the manner of the masters of old, taking full advantage of the breathtaking landscape that has inspired artists and authors for millennia! Come to learn and practise the beautiful Italian language, to see the great historical cities of Florence, Arezzo, Siena, Perugia and Cortona – only about an hour’s drive away – as well as the fascinating monuments built by the Etruscans and Romans of ancient times, or just to have a good time in the company of your friends or family! The Tuscan region is world famous for the steak meat of the white chianina cow and, naturally, the enchanting red wines. In the garden you will find the herbs that traditionally play an important part in Italian cooking, the mere scent of which makes the hardiest mouth water… Buon appetito! The history of art is visibly present in Tuscany, as well, as you will notice if you choose to visit the great cultural centres of old. And when the going gets hot, it is easy to pay a visit to the water park of the region or the nearby Lake Trasimeno, or simply dive into the Pool of the Fair Bridge. And when the sun has completed its course, you may enjoy yourself as the velvet Italian nightfall turns the heat of the day into the pleasant cool of the night, and as the fireflies creep out of their hiding places, challenging the stars of the night sky with their eerie lights.
	The main building (approximately 300 m2) accommodates 6-9 persons. In the ground floor there is a large living room – complete with a majestic fireplace – plus the kitchen, a breakfast patio and a bathroom/toilet. Three sizeable bedrooms, a bathroom/toilet and a separate toilet, a terrace and a balcony with a breathtaking view over the surrounding countryside make up the first floor. And yes, the villa does have a central heating system.
	The casina is a smaller house (approx. 70 m2 in size), separate from the larger villa, and capable of accommodating 2-5 persons. There is a large living room, one corner of which functions as a bedroom, separated by a curtain. There is also a kitchen, a toilet (with a shower) and a breakfast patio – on the sunny side of the house, naturally. The casina, also, has a central heating system The garden of Villa Pontebello is dominated by a 16-metre-long swimming pool (the undisputed favourite of all children visiting the villa!), over which looms the Ponte Bello, the “Fair Bridge” which gives the villa its name and conveniently divides the pool into two halves, one deep, one shallow (0.9-3 metres). On the terrace at the pool you can bathe in the sun and let your eyes rest on the beautifully folding Tuscan hills, with their lovely olive gardens and stern cypresses. In the shade of the tall Mediterranean pines stands the forno: a large pizza oven and a grill.
